We have found that accidental poisoning at this time of year is quite common. For example, just 5 chunks of Cadbury's Bournville chocolate (equivalent to 25g) is highly toxic to a dog weighing 20kg or less. Grapes, raisins, currants and sultanas are also poisonous to cats and dogs. Just a few grapes or a handful of raisins can cause renal failure. Additonally peanuts, mistletoe, poinsettia, holly and ivy are toxic and can cause gastric upset.

In the event of an emergency when the clinic is closed, please contact VetsNow on 0845 2170205

Once again very best wishes for a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.
